Foodie Friday: Son of a Gun

Oh how I love the tasty creations of chef Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo.  Son of a Gun is the perfect place for the sea foodie.  Located on West 3rd Street in Los Angeles, I love the laid-back atmosphere with the anything but laid back menu, and the bar tenders are experts in their craft.   My favorite dishes of the evening were between the roasted escolar and the pork cheek.  Delicious!

If you are a savage carnivore that enjoys a good pork chop, chicken liver toast or buffalo pig tails, then Animal is for you. Located on Fairfax just north of 3rd Street, Animal does not disappoint the casual foodie. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back, but that is just about the only thing that is care free about this restaurant. Chefs and owners Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo carefully crafted an adventurous menu that aims to please. Come with an open mind, come hungry.
